Lecture Demonstrations

Who Was Einstein?

Not a day goes by that we don't hear some reference to the world's most famous scientist. But really, how much do we know about the reluctant genius who changed forever the world of physics at the young age of 26? Did you know that he was married twice, had two sons, played the violin and piano, loved to sail, loved to tell jokes, was a political activist, and more? Through lecture, performance and Q&A sessions, Mr. Schuch will help to humanize the man whom we wrongfully call "the father of the atomic bomb." This lecture demonstration is appropriate for all ages.

Creating & Booking Your One-Person Show
An actor constantly makes important decisions about his or her career that impacts what direction it will take in the near and distant future. Many actors spend much too much time fretting about little control they have over their career. How do we take control? One way is to create and book your own one-person show. Mr. Schuch will take you through a very personal discussion about why he chose to portray Albert Einstein and the road that he took from the initial idea to continued critical, financial and professional success. The actor's life is about creating opportunities, finding consistent work, and following your dreams. This lecture demonstration will show you how to take control of your actor's life. This lecture demonstration is designed for the serious actor.

Master Classes

Improvisation, or The Easiest Way From A to B
This exploration in the art of improvisation is designed for anyone interested in tapping into their creative, intuitive selves. People from all walks of life are welcome. At its best, improvisation work is the simplest form of expression but is oh-so-difficult to navigate. Much of the work in this class comes from Mr. Schuch's study with Academy Award winner Alan Arkin, one of the founding members of Second City. "It's not about being clever or funny," says Mr. Arkin, it's about the truth and being present. This class provides a safe, nurturing atmosphere for the student to explore her or his own fountain of creativity.  This workshop is designed for adults.

Film Acting Technique
There is nothing as unforgiving as the camera lens. It catches every insincere thought, movement, emotion, and intention. At best, it can be a revealing window as it penetrates the soul of a character. Through on-camera scene work, playback, and discussion, the actor will learn to be always present and truthful. This class is designed for the serious actor.

Commercial Acting Technique
Television commercials can be an important and highly lucrative segment of an actor's career. Preparation for this type of work is often neglected but is as important as any other type of acting study. Commercial acting technique is somewhat different from that of film and theatre. This master class is an on-camera session with playback and discussion. You will experience the whole process from audition to the callback to the job. This class is designed for the serious actor.
